Publication

Educacion Matematica publishes research papers and other contributions in Spanish, and occasionally in Portuguese.

All papers are submitted to a double-blinded review process.

The Editorial Board, based on the results of the reviews, as well as on the ethics principles of research, decides whether to accept or reject a paper, or to suggest modifications.

The Editorial Board and the Mexican Society for Research and Dissemination of Mathematics Education keep all the publication rights of the accepted papers. Authors of accepted papers grant a letter of non-exclusive publication, which they receive for its approval prior to publication. In this letter, authors assure the Journal that, according to international law, they are the legitimate owners of the submitted paper, that this paper is an original contribution, that there are no conflicts of authorship with others, nor any other kind of conflict.

Ethics

Educacion Matematica operates on the basis of research ethics and seeks to promote it. Accordingly, its editorial policy entails:

  • honoring the plurality of ideas and view points.
  • guarding the confidentiality of the submitted papers during all the review process.
  • avoiding conflicts of interest.
  • fairly and objectively evaluating all the submitted papers.
  • permanently complying with the established criteria for accepting papers.
  • not publishing papers that could be the result of unethical research or unethical academic practices.

For the purpose of fulfilling these principles, the journal’s permanent policy has and will continue to be:

  • to publish papers with diverse approaches and theoretical orientations, considering as the main criteria for publication the quality, rigor, and ethical integrity of the submitted papers
  • to only publish papers whose authors have signed a letter of agreement indicating that they are the lawful owners of the submitted work, and that no conflict of intellectual ownership, or of any other kind involving a third party, is at stake.
  • to review the submitted papers through a double-blinded process, for the purpose of avoiding a possible loss of objectivity from the reviewers.
  • not to consider as reviewers of a paper scholars who belong to the same institution or research network as the authors.
  • to ponder whether the number of authors of a paper corresponds to the amount of work that the reported research entailed. Papers with an unreasonable large number o authors, given the reported research, are not reviewed nor accepted.
  • not to publish papers when the editorial committee becomes aware that basic ethical principles have been violated, not even when the paper has been approved for publication by reviewers.
